This week is going by fast, and I’m totally down with that! I am very much ready for some fun and relaxation this weekend.
So since it has been a couple of days since we’ve last talked…let me catch you up with what’s been goin’ on.
Remember when I told you I’ve been having some “hip strain” the past few weeks? Well the old lady hip is still around, just hanging out and about the town. But I tell you, me and the old lady are NOT friends. I don’t really enjoy her sticking around and wreaking havoc on my workouts. Not cool.
So you know what I did? I went to see the sports medicine doctor yesterday to get my old lady hip looked at. He took some x-rays to see what was going on and I hung out in the office for a bit to await the results.
Well the x-rays came out clear, thank goodness! The doctor told me he didn’t see any signs of trauma, but just that I needed to chill on the running for a couple of weeks. Chillin’ = NO running for a couple of weeks. Drops the mic. Done deal.
He did say, however, that I could continue with activities that do not aggravate my old lady hip. So there you go.
Yesterday afternoon I went to the gym and hopped up on the elliptical. Can I just say it has been a LOOOONG hot minute since I’ve done an elliptical workout! I kinda dug it! Like, 30 minutes turned into 40 which turned into 45 minutes dug it! Then I did my plank a day which was a success. We have hit 1 minute and 30 seconds now, folks. Only a matter of time til I can hold it for half an hour.
After the gym I ventured out to Plano for a night out with the girls! I always enjoy breaking up the monotonous work week with some time with good friends. It was lots of great conversation and yummy food and drinks. Love my ladies.
So, for the next couple of weeks you will see lots more cross training out of me and not as much runnin’ and gunnin’. My plan is to continue doing my plank-a-days and incorporate more stretching and yoga classes. And get back to getting my spin on! Boy do I miss me some spin class. So…I intend to get back to the basics until I am all healthy and better. Gotta make sure these legs will be healthy, happy and strong for marathon training this summer!
Anyone racing this weekend? Training for something? Tell me how it’s going so I can cheer you on!
