Breakfast Running Club and an Upcoming Race.

Last night I did yet another at home strength session. I am starting to turn my living room into my own little mini gym. I brought home some flank steak and garlic spinach for dinner from eatZi’s and while it was cooking in the oven here’s the express workout I cooked up.
Squats w/ overhead presses – 3 x 12
Tricep extensions – 3 x 15
Chest presses – 3 x 12
Russian twists (my favorite abs move!) – 3 x 20
Washed it all down with a few sets of burpees
I love doing burpees! They make me feel so strong.
Weds morning I also ran with my running buddy Elyse. She is an accomplished marathoner and quite the speedy one! I like to call her my little rabbit I try and keep up with. We run together every Wednesday morning in our neighborhood. Yesterday we even had another gal join us that lives in our apartment complex! It was fun. I like to call it our little version of the breakfast (running) club.
Although it’s been added to my “upcoming races” I forgot to mention to you that I’ve signed up for a race that Luke’s Locker will be putting on in September – The Great Taco Run 10 miler! This is going to be a benchmark race for my running group and I will also be racing it! I’ve never run a 10 mile race before but I am totally looking forward to doing it!
Today I’m groovin’ to Sade radio and getting the ball rolling over at work. My run had to be moved over to the dark side tonight (boohoo). I had to be up early this morning for the good ole 9 to 5! I am looking forward to a quick little jaunt in my neighborhood tonight while watching the sunset.
Do you prefer running/working out in the mornings, afternoons or at night? Do you WORK from home (if so I’m jealous!) What is your favorite veggie side dish (mine is a tie btwn spinach and asparagus!)
Anyone have a race coming up?

  1. Mornings! Hands down. It really gets my day off to a great start. Even on the weekends I love to get up super early and run when the sun is coming up/no one else is out. I have numerous races coming up: a mud run in two weeks, a 5k the week after that, a half marathon on october 7th, and a 10k on October 13th. I guess you could say I am a race junkie…
