22 Miles, Arctic Zero and Other Ramblings…Wknd Recap.

Happy Monday! Hope you had a wonderful weekend…it was quite chilly around these parts! Temps are dipping down to the 40s and 50s here in Dallas…not that I’m complaining…bring on the hoodies/boots/sitting by the fireside with a cup of hot chocolate kind of weather.
Love it!
I was in bed at grandma hours last night to be up early to teach my early bird spin class…great turnout this morning…love how they bring the energy! We finished up our workout with this song…always a good time. Makes me want to watch the Drumline movie.
So, let’s recap the weekend…jumping back to Saturday around say breakfast time…this happened…
22 miles dunski! My last lonnngggg run of the training season. I ran at an easy pace with a girl from my running group who will be running MCM as her very first marathon! So we talked about things like the course, mental toughness and etc. At one of the stoplights I turned off my Garmin and forgot to turn it back on for about a mile. Oops. So I had to add on a bit at the end for good measure…I wanted to make sure my watch said 22! Just a little bit Type A much?! No…not me…
I fueled with these babies…they taste a little bit like those Gushers fruit snacks to me. The juice on the inside has a nice little jolt of caffeine…perfect for those later miles.
After the run I did my usual go home/shower/do nothing routine. Then later I went over to my friend Ann’s for some wine/pizza/girl time! We split the Mediterranean pizza from this place and had a few glasses of some Yellowtail Shiraz. Perfect vino for a chilly nite.
I taught her how to use the Photo Grid app on her phone and made her make a collage of our running memories because she had no photos of me on her Instagram feed. I am such a narcissistic good friend…
Sunday morning I took a much needed REST DAY! After back to back days of teaching dance Friday followed by Saturday’s 22 miler by body was needing it. I even went and got a massage! Holy happiness it felt good.
Dinner post massage was my favorite Vietnamese soup…pho – basically a chicken noodle soup with rice noodles and fresh herbs…extra basil please!
Oh and I finally tried this stuff so many of you have been telling me about…Arctic Zero ice cream!
I tried out the Cookies and Cream flavor…pretty dang good! It took me 3 whole days to eat – this stuff is packed with filling fiber! Made with all natural ingredients and sweetened with monk fruit. Interesting! Not entirely convinced about the 150 calories claim after reading this, but still…far less guilt than Haagen Dazs or B & J! Am I right?
Sunday night was spent on the couch watching the RHONJ Reunion. Did anyone watch? Is Teresa delusional crazy pants or what?!
CONGRATS to all who ran marathons this weekend!! You guys rock!

  1. 22 miles! Get it, girl. I bet you’re going to own your marathon. And that pho looks fab. I love rice noodles and have been dying to try some.

  2. Stellar job on the 22 miler! You are a rockstar. Obvi. Why do you run 22 miles as your longest long run, instead of the more-common 20? I’ve always been curious as to why some marathoners like to do that!

    1. I think it’s more of a confidence building thing…my training schedule usually calls for either 22 or 23 miles as our last long run 3 weeks out from the race. Just gets your body acclimated to the distance I guess…either way it works for me so I just stick with what works! 😉
