BP & Kabocha Love.

Good day to you! I am enjoying some warm tea on this chilly Texas morning.
Woke up to temps in the 30s. A couple of days ago the highs were in the 70s. Texas weather can’t make up its mind. Stop playing with my emotions, weather.
This morning I taught a spin class…new playlist on deck.
Last night I didn’t have to teach class so I took advantage of some free time and got my Bodypump on. Warmed up a bit on the treadmill first. Felt good to pick it up a bit at the end of that mile.
Onto Bodypump…not sure if I knew what I was getting myself into here…since I haven’t been to BP in, oh 6 months or so.
Bodypump is a 60 minute strength training class that works your entire body. Each song works a different muscle group. The squat track especially was a killer last night…hurts so good. Much needed for these weak sauce runner’s muscles.
After the gym I went to the store to stock up on some goodies. I have been exploring some new foods…my new fave as of late – the kabocha squash.
The easiest way to cook it is to wash it, wrap it in foil and pop that bad boy in the oven on 375 for an hour. Cut it in half, scoop the seeds out, slice and serve. The skin is also edible and tasty. I put some in my lunch this morning and topped it with some drizzles of honey and cinnamon. It’s mostly sweet all on its own though!
Off to work.
What is the temp like in your neck of the woods? How often do you strength train? What new foods have you tried that you’ve enjoyed?

  1. You must be sore from BP.. I take two weeks off of it and I can barely move the next day… Cycling is something I need a little more of in my life!
    I love squash!

    1. Love cycling…esp teaching it, it’s so easy to teach! Girl…my arms were so fatigued for about an hour or so after the class! It was much harder after taking all of that time off. Definitely have to start going more often!

  2. Thanks for sharing the playlist! And good for you on the BP! I was just thinking today that I miss my old soccer coach who yelled at me until I had a good strength training routine and then yelled at me every morning to get it done. I need someone to come yell at me now to get on the strength training!

  3. That kabocha squash sounds interesting. If I see it at the store, I might have to try it. The weather here in Utah is CRAZY!!! I don’t get it. It’s almost Dec. and we have no snow. I mean, we have snow in the mountains, but not in the valley. It’s cold in the mornings and when I get off work in the afternoon, it’s a decent temp.

  4. It has been in the 20’s and 30’s here…and cloudy. Yuck!
But the sun is shining today and temps are supposed to climb into the 40’s. That my friend is my favorite running weather 🙂

  5. Have to get in strength training at least 2x a week! Bodypump is a great class, but it taught me more about movements that I actually do solo rather than in the class.

This weather is crazy! But shouldn’t complain when it gets warmer.
