5-4-3-2-1 and a Wknd Recap.

This morning’s workout – taught a 1 hour spin class and did the workout below with weights- 15 minutes in my living room before getting ready for my 9 to 5 job. Great mini workout if you have 15 or 20 to spare! Repeat a few times for an extra burn. The 5-4-3-2-1 workout.

After the sweat session I made myself a quick chai green smoothie with mangoes, strawbs, bananas, vanilla greek yogurt, honey and ice. Yum!

I know I have been off the radar for a minute but I’m back! I hope you all had a great weekend and rang in 2013 with your loved ones. My 4 day weekend was just what I needed. I kicked off the holiday in grand fashion with a 15 mile marathon training run. Temps were cool and a bit humid but I got it done. I am loving long runs in the mild Texas winter weather.

This was a good run, one of the strongest long runs I’ve done in a while. It was a great confidence booster type of LR for me!
Most of the weekend was fairly low key after that. The boyfriend was in town for the holiday (he just moved to Houston about a month or so ago) so we spent a lot of time together and had a lot of date nights. We ventured over to this place Saturday night for a pizza & wine date. I had a pizza with cherry tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella and fresh basil.

Sunday was church and more chill out down time. I took a much needed rest day after my long run Saturday. Monday morning on New Year’s Eve I was up and out the door for a 6 mile recovery run on the treadmill. Took it pretty easy.

NYE night BF and I went out with some friends on a double date for a party downtown. Good times and laughs with good people!

This week I am going to focus on easy runs and teaching my spin classes. I am teaching one more class tonight. I will go for a 5-6 mile run tomorrow and then this weekend is the Beat Goes on spring training season at Luke’s Locker! I am looking forward to coaching another session with an awesome, dedicated group of runners.

  1. Happy new year, pretty lady! Love the sequin skirt! Nice job on the long run too – it looks like we’re on the same page (so to speak) for our long runs… it’ll be great to keep up with you and yours for extra motivation!

    1. Yeah they can be a little scary at first but keep at it…find an instructor (with good music) you enjoy and it’s not so bad! I love teaching, it’s way fun 🙂 I will be following along with your running as well!! Happy New Year!

  2. You looked super cute. I’m so lame. I watched Twilight Zone Marathon and ate chocolates in my sweat pants. LOL

    I wish I could come to your spin class. I am dying to spin again. My husband’s good friend’s wife just opened a gym up and they have a ton of spin bikes. I think I’m going to make my way there this weekend.

    New Years Eve wasn’t too exciting here. It’s actually quite depressing for me (a whole different story there. Lol.). But, I did hang out at my favorite dueling piano bar and helped them out that night.

  4. THANK you for that workout! I actually did something kind of similar myself when I was looking to work out for just ten minutes before bed. Basically, 1 min jumping jacks alternating with 1 min of pushups, 1 min of tricep dips, and 1 min of resistance band rows. (So, jacks, pushups, jacks, dips, jacks, rows, repeat). I love those quick workouts that you can do anywhere! Pinned yours to my “no equipment workouts” board on Pinterest so I remember to give it a try 🙂
