Sometimes I Just Need a Reminder.

Last night I set out for a quick run after work. Yes, this morning girl moved over to the dark side due to a crazy schedule yesterday. 7 miles of rolling hills. Definitely not easy but hills are speedwork in disguise so I was determined to conquer them in the crazy heat and humidity.

It helps that I had this gorgeous view. Sometimes I just need a reminder of why I run in the first place.

PR’s are a nice confidence booster…medals are shiny and bling blingy…races are fun and a great adrenaline rush. But at the end of the day…what KEEPS me running is this…
-To chase the sun.
-For the challenge up that hill to make it all the way to the top.
-To compete against MYSELF…and run my fears and doubts into the ground.

-To sightsee and explore.

-To clear my head from the cares of the day.
-For that moment of stillness to talk to God in solitude.
-For the RUNNER’S HIGH.
-For those who can’t.
So tell me…why do you run?

  1. I run to gain perspective. Sometimes, the circumstances of life are too close. Running inspires me to look at them from another angle and put them in their proper place. Plus, the high is AWESOME.

  2. I also switched from morning to afternoon yesterday, and it was a nice change. I run to feel good about myself and to give my mind a break from the grind.

  3. I run for lots of reasons, the main one is I simply love the freedom I feel when I run. I love the way I feel when I conquer the run. And I was told by a Dr. That I would never run again a year ago and three months later i was running. I run 4 days a week 5 miles each and I’m increaseing. My goal is a marathon in 2014.
