Last night I set out for a quick run after work. Yes, this morning girl moved over to the dark side due to a crazy schedule yesterday. 7 miles of rolling hills. Definitely not easy but hills are speedwork in disguise so I was determined to conquer them in the crazy heat and humidity.
It helps that I had this gorgeous view. Sometimes I just need a reminder of why I run in the first place.
PR’s are a nice confidence booster…medals are shiny and bling blingy…races are fun and a great adrenaline rush. But at the end of the day…what KEEPS me running is this…
-To chase the sun.
-For the challenge up that hill to make it all the way to the top.
-To compete against MYSELF…and run my fears and doubts into the ground.
-To sightsee and explore.
-To clear my head from the cares of the day.
-For that moment of stillness to talk to God in solitude.
-For the RUNNER’S HIGH.
-For those who can’t.
So tell me…why do you run?
Love everything you said! I agree!
I run for my sanity and to find inner peace.
YES! Me too 🙂
I run for sanity and to challenge myself 🙂
Nice work on those 7 miles…it’s getting sticky out there!
Thx! I run for the same reasons…the TX heat is a killer! It’s only getting hotter from here 🙂
I run to clear my head and still my mind. I try to leave anything that’s not good out on the trails :D.
Yep! Leave it all out on the roads! I love it.
I run to gain perspective. Sometimes, the circumstances of life are too close. Running inspires me to look at them from another angle and put them in their proper place. Plus, the high is AWESOME.
Gosh could that not be more true! I definitely gain perspective on so many things while running.
I love all of your reasons! I especially love to run and be able to just think things through or to not think and just run!
I agree…sometimes we just need a moment to not think about a thing and just pound the pavement!
I run to see things clearly and put things in perspective. After a run, things don’t seem as bad as I thought.
Definitely! It’s the best reflection time 🙂
I also switched from morning to afternoon yesterday, and it was a nice change. I run to feel good about myself and to give my mind a break from the grind.
Yeah I can’t say I’ll ever totally switch over to p.m. but it was a nice little release from the long work day! Break from the grind…I like that 🙂
I run…simply because I can. I am thankful to have a healthy body that allows me to do so…so I run
Absolutely! Love ur blog btw!!
Thanks! Right back at ya girl
Putting into words how I feel!
I run because I can, because it’s my therapy. My time!
Ahh yes, therapy!
I run for lots of reasons, the main one is I simply love the freedom I feel when I run. I love the way I feel when I conquer the run. And I was told by a Dr. That I would never run again a year ago and three months later i was running. I run 4 days a week 5 miles each and I’m increaseing. My goal is a marathon in 2014.
