16 Miles, Foggy Watch and Catchin’ Some Rays…Wknd Recap.

Monday morning workout – 55 minutes of spin class with my early crew. Lots of sprinting and rolling hills to kick off another week!
Hope you had a wonderful weekend. I got some running in, a little bit of cooking, and time by the pool.

Saturday morning my training plan called for 16 miles. I broke it up a bit and was up at 5 am to get some miles in on my own. Then around 6:30 I met up with the Luke’s Locker crew to kick off coaching another marathon training season. The runners had an evaluation run to place them into pace groups. I did 4 miles with the 9 minute group, then finished off the rest of my run solo to top things off at 16 for the day. Again it was another hot and humid morning! I know it’s just going to get warmer from here.
I kept the overall run at just under a 10 minute pace which was my goal for the day. It was so steamy out even my watch got foggy. It may be time to get another one soon. This one has been going strong for 4 years of racing but I think it’s close to retiring.
After the run I met up with this girl for brunch and some play time. We always have a good time catching up.

The rest of the day was pretty shot since I was runnin’ and gunnin’ for a majority of the afternoon. I had planned to go to a friend’s birthday and missed it because I was so spent. Fail.
I redeemed myself for Sunday Funday and got a little time in catchin’ some rays with my neighbor Camillia by the pool.
I’m still working on getting a nice shade of toasted mocha latte for the summertime. Right now I’m looking more like a caramel macchiato. I am a work in progress.
Rocking the curls. I love lazy summer hair.
Sunday night I made turkey tacos and put them in lettuce wraps. Yep, still on the mexi kick.
How was your weekend? Did you get some miles in? Who raced or has one coming up? I know this McSpeedster does!

  1. I did not have as active a weekend as you, but I got a ton of stuff done around the house, and spent time with family! I consider it a success. While you’re over there talking about being caramel macchiato, I’m over here deciding if I look more like skim or whole milk.

  2. Looks like a good weekend! I have barely gotten any pool time in this summer so far. I think I am definitely going to do some this week since it’s suppose to be in the upper 90’s all week again! I too am a fan of the lazy summer hair…don’t even ask me to do mine til September- haha.

  3. Your weekend looks so active and fun! 16 miles? Wow, you are so fast and such a great runner! Jealous! I’ve been running at 6ish to avoid the 90’s-100’s F. I love Summer, but I am so not ready for the heat!

    1. Sounds like you are rocking it in this heat!! Glad to hear I’m not alone πŸ™‚ I feel like my pace is so slow training in the summertime so I appreciate the encouragement πŸ™‚

  4. So jealous of the pool time you got in! It’s hittin’ the 90s where I’m at this week as well so, I’m sticking to the treadmill, for now. Also tried out a Barre method workout today, which I’m loving. Still feelin the burn. πŸ˜‰ My wkend was not as active, but def. got a lot done around the house which was very much needed!

  5. Sounds like you had a fantastic weekend! πŸ™‚ Love those relaxing days when you can just chill out for a while. So sorry your watch is acting up–hopefully you can get a few more months out of it (unless you’re looking for a good excuse to get a new watch!).

  6. You are a ROCKSTAR when you run! You are so speedy & have amazing endurance. Sounds like you had an awesome weekend. I did 34 miles on the bike Saturday and then did a 6.7 mile run in 1:02:48 on Saturday. I never thought I’d run that fast.

  7. Your curls are so beautiful. It’s great that you have the option to wear sleek or curly. Guess what? It’s pool weather here in Toronto. Holla for humidity!!

  8. Man it was hot here this weekend too…97 with the humidity at the lake. I got in my run, 17 miles, so I feel your pain! I was beat when that was done and would have passed on a birthday party too…

  9. Girl, even your palest winter skin is world’s darker than my deepest summer tan. You have a gorgeous complexion!

This made me LOL: “I’m still working on getting a nice shade of toasted mocha latte for the summertime. Right now I’m looking more like a caramel macchiato.”

In the summer, I’m working on getting a nice shade of coffee with a bunch of cream. Right now I look more like plain milk. Ha!

  10. I know. I’m late with comments here. I had a day off mid-week so that threw me off. I love the pool — I hope to spend more time there this summer, especially since I’ll be in the final trimester when it’s the hottest. Lucky me. πŸ™‚

I got a tad jelly of your LR this past weekend. Oh, I miss double-digit runs. Wahhhh.. Awesome job (as usual!!!).
