Hope you all had a fantastic weekend. This morning I taught my a.m. spin class. I love cycling with them because they always bring the energy. We had a new girl in class and we may or may not have scared her a little bit with all of that early morning mojo. But it was fun.
This weekend was fairly low key. I decided to take off from long running it because I’ll be running the Irving Half Marathon this upcoming weekend as an official pacer. This is the 2nd time I’ve paced a race so I’m looking forward to helping some runners reach their goals. So I scaled back the miles and did some cross training. It was nice to take a little break from the pavement. It should be a beautiful run through the trails of the city.
Saturday morning I went to a friend’s hip hop cycle class. I loved their new Schwinn bikes! I think my cycle shoes did too.
It’s always fun to take another instructor’s class and be a student for a change. It was an amazing workout, I got some good ideas and I was actually pretty sore afterwards.
Saturday night I met up with my homegirl for a little salsa dancing at Gloria’s.
We had dinner there and then hit up the dance floor. Live music and lots of twirling went down.
Sunday was church and then I got bendy with it at Karmany Yoga. This studio is basically my new addiction. Like if I don’t go at all during the week I can definitely tell a difference in how my body and hips feel. The instructor there, Amy, is a life changer. Oh, and I’m making progress..I finally got into a bind when we did this pose and I felt like a rockstar.
I caught up with a friend that afternoon for brunch on the patio at Dream Café…had mimosas and the vegan migas. This stuff was awesome. You couldn’t even tell that there was not real cheese. I need to recreate it at home.
On the way home I saw lots of pretty Texas bluebonnets. They are popping up everywhere.
How was your weekend? What’s the state flower where you live? Ever been salsa dancing?
Ok, I think I hurt myself just clicking on that pose link. Ouch. You are a serious rock star. I would love to be a pacer…can’t wait to hear about your second experience!
You are hilarious. haha it’s definitely not an easy pose. 😉
Wow, fun weekend and I love that you run as a pacer. That’s really cool that you enjoy inspiring others during their half marathon and getting them to their goal pace! What a great attitude! How awesome you’ve found a great yoga studio and a great instructor! It’s a nice feeling to find an instructor you trust, which I’m sure you know all about because it sounds like you’re THE BEST spin teacher ever!! 😉
Kristin you sure do know how to make a girl smile! 🙂 Thank you and I’m looking fwd to pacing for sure! Can’t wait to read your Bryan Kest recap!
Awe, thanks!!! XOXO!! 😉
I definitely agree with the other girls….it must be awesome to be a pacer and help others achieve their goals. I have a hard enough time motivating myself…let alone motivating others. Enjoy your Monday!!!
Absolutely! Motivating others can also actually help you stay motivated yourself. If that makes sense 😉 Have a great day.
Your food looks so good! I’m one of those folks that took spinning pre- beginner class once and never came back. Is there anything I can do to prepare or work my way up to it. I feel like it would be really good for my weight loss journey. BTW Rudbeckia hirta is the Maryland state flower and I don’t know if I’ve ever seen it. 🙂
BFF! haha oh yeah I would say to definitely go back to spin class and give it a try…check out a class that maybe you’ve heard has good music because music is a huge motivator…at least it is for me. That will keep you engaged and on the bike. Go at your own pace too. Work your way up to staying in class longer and you just might like it and then you can focus on working harder. BTW Counting down the days til we’re in Puerto Rico!!!
Me too…I’m so counting down the days. We’re in April!
To be honest, we didn’t do anything fun this weekend. In a way it was nice to relax, but in a way, I like to do something fun when the kids are with their mom. Oh well. The Utah state flower is the Sego Lily. I think it’s a rather pretty flower. I’ve never been salsa dancing, but love to watch it. I don’t have enough coordination for dancing. Lol.
The lily sounds pretty! Yeah it’s always fun to watch really good salsa dancers! I’m not one of them but I try and shake it shake it a little bit.
My stomach growled looking at the food you ate this weekend. I’m so hungry now. I’m actually thinking of all the food we had last night. ❤ Spanish food. I wish I could find an inexpensive yoga studio around here. I miss it. I guess I will have to stick with yoga at my house. 🙂
So, our state flower is the viola sororia — and I had to google it. HAHAHA.
Yoga in your living room is great! However you can get it in!
Looks like a fun weekend – I’ve never been salsa dancing, but totally looks fun! Colorado state flower is the Columbine 🙂
You would like it! Fun way to let loose!
Weekend was great – camping with friends and family. State flower is Poppy (I think). I really should go salsa dancing… I don’t think I have ever been. A shame!
Wooohooooo! Salsa! 😀
Ayyayyay! 🙂
