What Do You Run For?

7 miles of sunrise this morning followed up with some stretching and core work. I’m glad the sun came out to play today since yesterday it was so cloudy. It brought a whole new energy into this morning’s run.

Last night I taught spin and we did a pretty wicked hill climb to this song. I went home and listened to it again…I’m kind of obsessive like that if I like a song. I play it over and over until I get sick of it.

Oh and by the way I’m totally getting excited for this half mary June 1st. 2 weeks away. Me and my girlfriend Malaika are going to have an awesome time.

Plus I get to meet a few SoCal runners that I’ve been chatting with online for years. Malaika teaches turbo kickbox at 24. When she found out I was doing San Diego she signed up right on the spot. Love her spontaneity. I thought I’d be traveling alone but now I have a buddy to bring along with me. Fun fun.

Just in case you need a little motivation to run today…here ya go.

So tell me, runners…why do you run? What do you run for?

  1. 2 questions for you.

    1. How do you stay motivated to run and run 5+ miles daily
    2. Do you feel safe running alone in the morning, that is one of my biggest fears now that I am a mommie.

    1. Carry some jogger mase with you if you don’t feel safe. I have done that before. Also run in well lit areas. I like to run just after the sun comes up so I’m never just straight up running in the dark, you feel me? 😉 Hope you’re well, Lisa Lis!!

  2. I run for me. Sounds selfish, probably, but running has made me a much more patient, loving, and forgiving person. It has also brought me face-to-face with ‘struggle’ on a daily basis, and taught me how to breathe through it. I LOVE it because it’s hard. I LOVE it because it takes my breath away. I LOVE it!

  3. Hey, great post!! Glad you got a fabulous run in this morning!! I run because it energizes me and starts my day off wonderfully!! I feel happy the rest of the day!! XOXO!! Hope you’re having a great one!!

  4. What an awesome video! I always need running encouragement! I do it because I can and try to remind myself to feel grateful that I’m able to run 🙂

  5. That’s awesome that you’ll have a running buddy for the San Diego race! It’s a dream of mine to run the Rock n’ Roll Half Marathon in San Diego, actually. I’m hoping to make that happen sometime next year hopefully! I run because I ALWAYS feel better afterwards… can’t explain it. I just feel like I accomplished something worthwhile – even if I only ran 1-2 miles. Gotta love those endorphins! Lol.

  6. I began running for purely selfish reasons…time alone, a chance to feel capable, etc. Now I run because it’s LESS selfish! I run because I can, and because it’s a gift that so many people would love to have the opportunity to do! 😉

  7. I run because each mile I compete, I feel so proud of myself of what I can accomplish. My confidence has shot through the roof! Since I am training for my first half marathon, each long run is a new pr, a new record set for me! And I love it! Afterwards, I’ll concentrate on being my times!
I love the song and downloading now!
