8 Miles and Throwback Thursday.

8 miles this morning in the hot humid sun. It’s starting to warm up a little bit more here over the next few days. Talk about a sauna.

The sweetest butterfly joined me for about a mile or two. He seriously wouldn’t go away so I had to snap a pic. I would like to believe he was rocking out to the jams I was playing out loud on my phone.

It’s a little bit of a throwback Thursday around here so I thought I’d take you back in time on some race photos. This came in my email box this morning as a little reminder that I never purchased these race photos from 2012…haha I might just have to grab a couple.

I think out of all 10 marathons I’ve run In the past 4 years the Galveston Marathon definitely stands out the most. It was chilly in February during a kooky rain storm. A downpour of rain and close to 40 mile an hour winds. Looking back, I still don’t know how I finished. It was the 2nd year in a row they had put on the race, so most of the runners out there were doing the half. It was only a handful of folks running the full marathon. Lots of times I was running in the rain…alone. It did help that I got to see people I knew along the beach a couple of times – my dad, his girlfriend, and my boyfriend at the time were all there cheering me on. But a lot of the miles were solo and I just kept pushing. Through the rain, wind, crazy weather. And still managed to finish in under 4 hours. I finished 3:56 and placed 3rd in my age group. It was not a PR for me…and again…it was a small race…but I’m so proud to have placed and endured such crazy weather. Just goes to show that you are capable of so much more…even when you think you can’t do something…just give it one more mile. One more push. And you will shock yourself. It’s fun to shock yourself sometimes.

  1. Adorable throw back! It’s fun looking back on our old accomplishments and seeing how far we’ve come… Even though in your case you were in a pretty great place then, too 🙂

  2. 10 marathons in 4 years?! GIRL. reading this makes me feel like i need to suck it up and stop debating about whether or not i’m going to run my 2nd full marathon in October. i think i’m too hard on myself. you’re amazing!

  3. Wow, how cool that a beautiful butterfly was following you. So adorable!! I love it!! Great 8 mile run and love the race photos!! You look gorgeous!! XOXO!!

  4. Gorgeous runrise! 🙂 You’re such a bad@$$ and totally earned that trophy! I really do want to run a marathon with you someday. When I can keep up with you. 😉 I won a trophy once for being the first female 10K finisher at a very small 5K/10K. I still have it with all of my running books. Someday I’ll get back to that speed…
