I did some post Jingle Bell Run miles this morning enjoying an amazing sunrise. Talk about a pretty sky. We had some rain overnight but happy to say the sun is out and ready to play.
Wednesday 10k done. Yes, I am a sucker for going way over the mile marker.
I don’t know about you but I’m totally in the holiday spirit now. I have a confession to make…I kind of have not been feeling very Christmassy lately. Which is very much not like me. But this race TOTALLY put me in holiday mode!! I absolutely love me some jingle bell running. Now all I have to do is watch the ELF movie and I will be beaming with Christmas cheer.
So the Dallas Jingle Bell 5k run for me is kind of a tradition. I’ve done it a few years in a row now. Thankfully I was able to get a sub for my spin class last night so I headed out to the Hilton Anatole after work, put my race number on and was ready to go.
There were tons of folks out last night, people brought their families, friends and doggies. I saw a few runners I knew, said hello and we lined up to the start. A THOUSAND or so runners sign up for this race so I tried to get as close to the start line as I could.
We got the ready set go and were off into the dark! And boy was it dark. It took me a minute for my eyes to adjust and make sure I didn’t fall into one of those famous Dallas potholes. The race is mostly flat and goes through part of the design district area of Dallas. I kept a steady pace and honestly just wanted to push myself and run under an 8 minute pace. Mission accomplished. Faster than last year’s time. Placed 5th out of 74 chicks in my age group. Still got it, I guess.
10 miles total for the day, including the 7 I ran yesterday morning. I’ll take it!
Without further ado let’s get to this week’s spin playlist! I teach my last class of the week tonight. Let’s get to those Christmas jams!

What’s your favorite Christmas song? Are you traveling for the holiday or stay-cationing it?
Nice running- that’s an awesome 5K time! And a huge crowd for a 5k!
It was insanity!
Wow, 5th out of 70+ girls? Amazing job! Looks like a fun race too! I am somewhat in the xmas spirit now, but it’s been tough with all of this summerlike weather we’ve had in Boston (slight exaggeration but not by much!). Thanks for your playlist too- I am getting so sick on my current list and need to swap in some good songs! Have a Merry Christmas!
Thanks Jane! Merry Christmas to you too!
5th is an amazing placement. Glad you’re feeling merry now.
Thank you! It was fun for a no expectations race!
Congrats on a great race! I’m going to have to do this one next year, a bunch of my running friends were there!
I’ve also had a hard time getting in the Christmas spirit this year. I think it’s the weather!
YES! The weather!! Definitely do it next year a lot of my running buds come out too!
OOH! such a fun race. I know what you mean about not feeling Christmasy. While the rest of the US is happy about warmer winters, for us in the South, that makes the difference between winter and summer. I feel like I’m in a postcard where Santa is on vacation.
Oh well. The holiday themed runs are such a great way to get into the spirit! And nice mileage for the day, too. 🙂
Hope you have a merry Christmas with your family… with them you’ll get into the spirit for sure!
Santa on vacation…my thoughts exactly! A very Merry Christmas to you too!!
Well done on your race. Sounds like a great day of running. And that sky! Gorgeous!
It was a fun full day of running that’s for sure!
