11 Mantras to Use on Your Next Long Run.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes the rigors of training for that next big marathon can wear you out not only physically, but mentally as well. As we all know…having a strong mental game is KEY to being a successful distance runner! Here are some mantras I like to always keep in my back pocket.

1. Hills are speedwork in disguise.

2. Run the mile you’re in.

3. I’m in it for the long run!

4. Those are not hills…they’re mounds of opportunity.

5. Run to start the weekend…(one of my favorites)

6. Trust your training. Hard work pays off!

7. Trust those legs, they’re stronger than you think.

8. Harder…better…faster…stronger

9. Run now…wine later (or whatever your favorite adult beverage of choice)

10. Don’t stop, get it get it!

11. Just breathe.

    1. Well for me long runs are not boring but I know what you mean…I’m an only child so I’ve gotten really good at entertaining myself!! Plus I’ve been running long for many years…experience makes a huge difference. As well as being consistent.
5k sounds great! I have a few marathons I’ve signed up for so I can’t commit right now but you enjoy!

      1. Lol!!!! We are only child twins!!!… Running with my dog helps the entertainment factor but I think I need to change up my scenery. I run around my neighborbood so might need to do a run around the lake. I think I am doing a 10k in March so I will let you know 🙂

  1. haha these are good ones. i try to tell myself, “you’re healthy. you’re ABLE to do this. you’re CHOOSING to do this. you LIKE this.” it seems to work. 🙂

  2. This is amazing! Totally love it. I guess I use: “Just go go go, don´t think about it…enjoy the fresh air, enjoy the sweat…this is your meditation….go…don´t think….go….” But i totally should include some of yours into my next run!
