Well hello there! Hope your Monday is going along great so far. It’s definitely a good day to get your java fix…I’m sitting here sipping on my coffee as I type.
Let’s do a quick recap of the weekend! Once again, I had back to back long training runs on tap, gearing up for the Cowtown 50k at the end of this month! I can’t believe it’s already February.
Saturday morning…my first 21 mile run since the New Year’s Double at the beginning of the year. It felt good to be back up in some higher mileage. This run was fairly relaxed but it was just nice to get that time on my feet.
The rest of the day was chill…I met up with my homegirl Natalie for our monthly brunch at Frankie’s.
Sunday! The Too Cold to Hold Half Marathon. Which was actually kind of funny because it was AMAZING outside all weekend. Like springtime weather kind of amazing. Not cold at all. Gotta love Texas. My friend said the name of the race should have been ‘Too Warm for Sleeves’…hahaha she was certainly correct.
We lined up to the start ready to go! Temps were pretty nice at the start, right around 60 degrees or so. Pretty pleasant overall with a nice wind. My goal for this race was to do my best and run on some tired legs! I was surprised at how much I still had in the tank. I wanted to complete this race in under 2 hours and I met my goal. 26th half marathon done! 4th place finish out of 39 gals.
I have to say one of the best things about this race was the swag they gave us…beanie, dri fit top and a buff for those mornings when it does get chilly again.
Probably my favorite way to celebrate a race…on the patio, with a hottie & some wine…by the fireside watching the sunset. Yes yes and yes.
And finally I was even able to squeeze in some meal prep for the week…lemon pepper tilapia, ZOODLES, jerk sweet potatoes and boiled eggs for an added protein boost. Yum yum.
How was your weekend? Did you do any food preppin’ for the week?
The weather was beyond perfect this weekend…. Wish it could be like this ALL THE TIME!!! 🙂
Right?! I certainly enjoyed every second of it!
AMAZING RACE and congrats on #26th and coming in #4. What an accomplishment. YOU ROCK!!!!
Thank you! I kinda just utilized it as more of a training run but glad I was able to push the pace a bit!
Good luck with the Cowtown and congrats on your great finish this weekend. That patio looks perfect!
Thank ya! Yes fireside in the backyard on the patio was nothing short of perfection!!!
congrats on a great race, after a 21 mile long run, wow!!!
Yep! 50k training has been great! Can’t wait to run my 2nd ultra 🙂 🙂
no food prepping on my end, but I love how your weekend went! Can we trade? I did a run and then a lot of studying homework. 🙂
Nice! I love how organized you are with your training logs! Keep rockin it lady!!
No food prepping, but we did enough grocery shopping that meals are SET for this week. Makes life infinitely easier
Absolutely! I can’t imagine all of the planning you do with a husband and a little baby!! For me it’s much needed with teaching spin and having a full time job!
Congrats on your race- that’s awesome! That’s some nice swag for a race. I get excited whenever a hat is part of the swag- I would love a beanie!
Yeah I have a little collection going although I’m not much of a hat gal it helps for the cold days!
you are killing it with these miles! girl, nice job. you have some strong legs! 🙂
Thanks boo!
Congrats on your 26th half marathon! Love love your pink trainers!
Thanks very much chica!
I think I spotted you at the “Too Warm for Sleeves” (love it), on the out and back part. I thought about calling your name but then thought I’d sound like a stalker, lol. I also ran it as a training run, my friend was pacing the 2:10 group so I ran with her. It really was a beautiful day!
Um WHAT?! Seriously you should have said something girlie! I’m sure I’ll run into ya at another one soon.
Haha, ok I will next time! It might be Cowtown, I’m doing the 10k and half.
Cool! Wear something with your name on it or something!! haha!
