Another 7 miles before 7 a.m. this morning with the IRC crew. Absolutely beautiful colors in the sky! It helps when you end the run to the tune of this view.
The struggle was very real this morning getting up but when you have a whole gang of people waiting on you, you get up and bust it out. Accountability, baby.
Gangstas in the dark.
The other day I was thinking about the runner’s high…and how much I love it! I have to say running has been such a blessing to my life and has changed it for the better…and I’m always and forever going after that rush of endorphins! Here are a few things that I love about it in no particular order…
1. That it’s legal in all 50 states.
2. The boost of endorphins that really should be bottled up and sold in stores…imagine what a killing that would make.
3. The mental clarity it gives me after an early morning long run…almost good as a hot cup of coffee.
4. It helps you appreciate those beautiful sunrises/sunsets/nature even more than you would on a normal day.
5. That you can really tell the difference between a day that you ran and a day that you skipped out on those miles. Am I right?
6. The feeling it gives you especially after crushing it in a race (and hey…age group awards are just the icing on the cake)!
7. It’s all natural, organic, and addictive…that good kind of addiction! Gotta love it.
8. No matter what kind of other workout, lifting or cross training that you do…there’s just nothing like that runner’s high. Point blank period.
What are some things you love about the runner’s high?
OMG, dying on that meme. HAHAHAHAHA Hysterical. I can’t wait till the snow melts and I can run with the kids in the double. For now, i’m dealing w/ the tread… I think ever since I rolled my ankle on that apple back Oct. 2014, I’m so afraid of slipping on black ice.
I do love getting my morning run in right before work and the day starts. I feel so accomplished…
I can’t believe there’s still snow up there! Tell the east coast to get their act together!!!
It´s all natural, organic and addictive….girl, you got it! Love it!
Yep yep!!!
Best of all…. ITS FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love this post… that sunset though!!! 🙂
haha I can’t even argue with that!
I love this post! #8 is definitely my favorite part of the runner’s high– you just can’t re-create that feeling. Best feeling ever (and probably the main thing that keeps me running year after year). Great post.
You and me both Cristi! Thank you!
I love the feeling of the goose bumps you get when the stride all of a sudden feels effortless, the air is clear, and life is just goooood.
Yes! Beautifully said! 🙂
I love this! How do you find the motivation to get up that early? It’s my biggest struggle
Bring crazy helps 🙂 😉
Haha! Well I better find my crazy soon, I have a half to run in 8 weeks!
get it girl!
It’s a great thing to be addicted to!
Woot woot!
love this runner’s high (that “ended up in Ohio” meme is cute, wish that would happen to me but maybe, like, Maine? haha). your sunrises are always on point. i ran this morning before the sun rose and it felt so good, even though i’m so sore, and i agree — it automatically makes your day so much better to have those miles done.
Abso-freakin-lutely!
