What’s Next…Spring and Summer Races.

First of all I just wanted to give a shout out and huge THANK YOU to you all for your support…I seriously could not have asked for a better race day this past Sunday! For those of you that missed it, you can check out my Cowtown 50k recap here. That race really gave me huge confidence when it comes to ultras and I’m really looking forward to having some more great races this year. I will be taking the next few weeks to recover, do some easy running and then slowly ramping some miles/speed back up for upcoming races!

This pic was actually from Rock n Roll Dallas…but it’s my favorite. I’m waving hello to you!

So…here’s what we’ve got on tap for spring and summer.

-March 19th and 20th- My next race weekend will be Rock n Roll Dallas! In honor of St. Patty’s Day I’ll be running the Dash Down Greenville first on Saturday morning (5k) and then RnR Dallas (13.1) on Sunday.

Yes…preferably with my shamrock socks on. They just make things more festive.

It should be a good time to play around with speed for a bit! I really do love the half distance because I have done so many that at this point I can recover quickly and move on to bigger things. Plus this race is usually a good one with some rolling hills. And yes…I actually do love hills! Win win.

-April 16th- I’ll be PACING the Irving Marathon right in my own backyard! I am hoping we get some decent weather…this time of year is fairly unpredictable. But I love running in my ‘hood and representing the Irving Running Club.

-May 7th- The Irving Marathon will be part of my training leading up to this big kahuna! The Hachie 50 out in Waxahachie, TX. Very excited for this one…again we will see if Texas weather behaves! This course will be mostly paved, part trail and super flat. Perfect for my first 50 mile race. I will walk the whole thing if I have to. Ha!

-June 5th- Rock n Roll San Diego. Absolutely love this course…I ran it a couple of years ago. Can’t wait to get back out to Cali.

That’s all for now! Stay tuned…and happy training!

What races do you have on tap for spring and summer? Any ultras?

  1. I will look for you at Rock n Roll! I’m doing their 5k and then the half, I love me an extra medal and t-shirt! I think the course is a little hillier this year, but should still be a fun time!

I’m just doing shorter races this spring. I have the Trinity River Levee 10k this weekend, then the White Rock & Roll 10 Mile in May. I might try to throw in another half somewhere in there!

  2. So many fun races coming up!!! Including a 50!!! I am kind of envious of your race schedule!! I have to run my races by P first. LOL And the San Diego one is a dream of mine. I think i’ll wait until it falls on my birthday again. The one year I wanted to run it was on 06/06/2010 – I was turning 30 but I was also 9 months pregnant with Lili. I just checked the calendar 06/06/2021. HAHAAH

  3. A 50 miler, wow, that is some challenge, but if anyone can step you, I’m sure that you can! RnR SD sounds great too…we will be running RnR Seattle – it will be my middle race of my marathon maniacs qualification criteria. And, though I haven’t mentioned it yet on my blog, I think I’m going to try for my first ultra this year at a local timed endurance event. I’ve never done one before but it is where you run a set course for a given amount of time. They have a 6, 12, 24, and 32 hour event…going to enter the 6 and try for 50K or better!

      1. That’s would be awesome…make sure you let us know when you head this way! At some point I’ll be looking for advice on Texas too!

  4. I’m trying to figure out my summer racing/running schedule!! In the south things kind of stop after May and don’t start up again until September.

    1. There’s a fun race series you would probably enjoy down here where a BUNCH of Maniacs and Fanatics come run…you need to come down to TX and run with us sometime! 🙂

But yeah I feel ya. In the summer I do a lot of marathon training and running on my own…lots of half marys down here in the summer though. Wounded Warrior in June and the Hottest Half in August!
