Hello and happy Monday to you! It is kind of cloudy, humid and windy down here in Texas. So I am just leaving this here to motivate myself to rock it out today. Run, check…coffee, check. Going good so far.
Let’s recap the weekend a bit, shall we?
This past Saturday was my 2nd to last long-ish run before the Marine Corps Marathon! 14 miles on deck. 2 weeks out! I’m scaling things back a bit getting ready for 26.2. ISH is about to get real I tell ya. I am equal parts excited and nervous. And also am hoping for some decent running weather for the marathon.
Afterwards I celebrated with some of my Irving Running Club crew. We had lots of folks in our group that totally dominated the Chicago Marathon recently so it called for cupcakes. With ‘Made in IRC’ frosting of course. Good stuff.
Later on that day me and my homegirl Natalie took the DART rail out to the State Fair of Texas! Fireworks, smoked turkey legs and fun were in store. I love taking the rail to the fair because parking out there can be crazy. It’s a nice, stress free way to travel. Plus there’s one real close to my place to I literally just step outside of my door and go.
We walked around, ate some delicious fair food and said hello to Mr. Big Tex.
Nelly also performed at the Chevrolet stage that night…we got to see a bit of it before leaving. He played some serious throwbacks for sure.
Sunday funday runday – I had a run date with my friend Tricia who is training for the BMW Dallas half marathon in December. I am running the full marathon that day as well so I am going to be doing some recovery runs with her while she ramps up her mileage. She had 7 miles on deck for the day. Her first time running 7 miles ever! I was so proud of her for getting it done.
And of course Sunday would not be complete without mimosas…cheers to life.
How was your weekend? Do you have any fall or holiday trips coming up?
Washington D.C. oh so soon! Bring it on.
Looks like a great weekend! Getting so close to your race!!
Yeah buddy!
The state fair looks like a lot of fun. Excited for your big race.
Sunday and mimosas? I really need to get into that habit. I have a friend coming over for brunch soon, so they will definitely be on the agenda!
Aw thanks girl!! Yes…it has been a minute actually too that I’ve done the mimosa thing. It really was lovely especially after running in the Texas sun!
Yay for state fair fun!! I’ve never been to one but they always sound interesting. And I need more mimosas in my life. What a fun weekend!
It was fun indeed!! Mimosas for the win!
Ran the Baltimore Half with son #1. Was his first half – super proud of him. And he beat me by about 2 min. I held him back til the final hill then he took off.
Oh how fun!! Congratulations!! I will be in Baltimore in less than 2 weeks (flying there but then staying with friend in MD closer to DC before the Marine Corps Marathon)
Looks like you got some good miles in this weekend. Yay for the fair!!! We are going Thursday… like I cant get contain myself!!! Cant wait 🙂
How fun! Enjoy!
I love being able to go out using public transportation… it’s much less stressful… and one never has to worry about drinking and driving 😉
Sounds like a fun weekend. Mine was more quiet, but I needed that!
Yep exactly! Parking is more of an issue though honestly, not too much drinking went down Saturday. I’m trying to be halfway good for 26.2 😉
Ha ha! Okay. 🙂
awww the Texas state fair, that one is the best! thats so nice you live close to public transportation dealing with parking is the worst.
I know right! The State Fair of Texas crowd is nothing to mess with! I cannot even imagine trying to park down there just leaving on the rail was nightmare enough! Like sardines in a can 🙂
