On a Solid Note and My Favorite Podcasts for the Long Run.

7.1 miles before 7 a.m. at a easy breezy pace with the IRC crew. It was dark this morning even by the end of my run so no sunrise pics…I thought I’d pose under the lights for the camera. Peace, love and morning run happiness.

So as of late I’ve been doing lots of runs with friends but occasionally I like to get out and run solo. I think solo running definitely has its benefits. Especially after doing a bulk of my training this season with the run club I’ve found that it has made me a stronger runner when I’m out on my own. I did most of the run this morning with the group but then I split off and did some faster miles solo. It always feels so good to finish the run on a solid note.

So if you are a mostly solo runner and are looking for some sweet podcasts to add to your collection, you have come to the right place! Here are a few podcasts I’ve been digging lately. A lot of them are great for long runs…even daily workouts or just out and about on the go! I actually listen to some of these sometimes at work…I’m just saying, it makes the day go by faster.

Ten Junk Miles This is hands down one of my favorite runner podcasts right now. These guys just crack me up and I love following some of them on Strava as well. Mostly they discuss ultra running, trail running and just randomness. They have episodes that last anywhere from 90 minutes to 2 hours so they are perfect for 10 miles or more.

Radio Lab- ‘Limits of the Body’ specifically is a must listen. I listened to this episode last summer at least 100 times on the run and I tell you what it is super motivating. Some of their other topics too are really interesting (non running related) and there are great hosts on that show.

Run to the Top Tina Muir is fantastic as a host and she’s a great elite runner to follow if you’ve ever heard of her blog. She is very informative and covers a ton of topics for marathoners and casual runners alike. It’s a great resource for tips and all things running.

The Read If you are not bashful when it comes to provocative language you may like this podcast. Kid Fury and Chrissle are forever cracking me up covering all things entertainment and pop culture. You can find them on Spotify and they have a ton of podcast episodes on there. I’m slowly working my way to listening to all of them.

Heather Dubrow’s World For all of my Real Housewives fans you will love a look into the life of Mrs. Dubrow. I also love her assistant Natalie who is her co-host on the show. It’s a very girly type podcast but what can I say I am a girly girl so I can relate.

Runners (or non runners) what are some of your favorite podcasts? Share ‘em all so I can add to my collection!

  1. I just ran my first long run this weekend with a podcast and I actually loved it. It kept me engaged and the run flew by. I’ve been listening to Undisclosed recently (on a true crime kick lately) – but I’ve also been recommended to listen to Stuff you Missed in History Class and Stuff Mom Never Told You.
