1. It is you versus you…always.
2. You get out of it what you put into it…the passion, the dedication…stay at it long enough…and it all pays off.
3. The incredible amount of friendships that can be made…I have lifelong friends just from the simple act of running.
4. How supportive and encouraging other runners are with one another. You will find no better support group out there.
5. That running does not discriminate against color or creed. This sport is made up of such a diverse group of individuals.
6. That it can get you through the best of times or the worst of times. The healing powers of running are absolutely incredible.
7. The fact that you can see an entire city or town by foot. It’s one of my favorite reasons for traveling for races.
8. Just one run can turn your entire day around.
9. It can make you a better daughter, sister, mom, girlfriend, friend, etc. Simply by taking the time to do something like running for yourself and your well being just overall makes you a better person.
10. Nature just comes alive and you notice things about the great outdoors that you normally would not notice.
What is one (or two or five) beautiful things that you love about running?
Wonderful observations. I too love the community, every single runner will instantly offer advice or guidance. They’ll offer to run with beginners and support all their objectives unselfishly.
My favourite thing about running is the alone time and inner peace it brings me. I can spend a guilt free hour ‘reading’ or just thinking (usually ‘writing’ in my head). I love to watch the sunrise and the seasons change, but best of all, I love to run in the rain. There’s something about splashing in muddy puddles that appeals to my inner child!
Yes!! Running in the rain can be oh so liberating!
My favorite way to see a new city is by running. You see a completely different view when you’re running vs. driving.
True! And whoa look who came outta nowhere!! Miss reading your running posts, lady!
Beautiful, I agree with all of them. My favorite by far has the amazing people it has brought to my life. The lessons I have learned about myself, through running, have made me a better person out side of running. For that, I will forever be grateful for the amazing running community. Thanks for giving me a lift up, having a sort of grey day here.
The running community is really an awesome one! And you’re welcome!! Hope the day gets better!
That the weather (humidity, rain, snow, freezing temps) can flat out make you feel incredibly alive – just be in the “now” during the run. And agree with your 10. Good stuff!
Being in the now is important! Thanks as always for your input!
I love this post! there’s something so beautiful about you versus you
Totally!!
