Most of you know that I am the number one advocate of running clubs and group running but some days there is just nothing like geeking out on a solo run. Here are 8 things I love about running solo in no particular order…
1. Time to brainstorm/clear your head. I don’t know about you but after a long day at work, one of my favorite things is going on a run to work out the stress of the day. There is nothing better.
2. For meditation & enjoying nature…I love my solo sunrise runs sometimes. I like to call them RUNrises actually. Love it.
3. Better opportunity to focus on your pace and your breathing. A lot of times when you get caught up in a group run it’s harder to focus on how you are progressing during a run. I enjoy doing my tempo/faster runs alone so I can concentrate on what I am doing.
4. I see things I don’t normally see than when I’m with a group of people. Being more observant can definitely be a good thing. Safety first.
5. I get to be a little more silly/sing out loud/dance to my music etc. I’m an only child and also a goof ball so I’m just really good at entertaining myself. HA. Nuff said.
What are some things you enjoy about solo running?
I love a lot of the things you listed!! Sometimes you just need that alone time 🙂
Absolutely!!
I run solo a lot! I really have become mentally strong and it makes it easier to just lose myself in it. I don’t mentally break down in races like I used too. I have really been able to work on my form during the runs by myself too while not being distracted by having fun with friends!
Yes…I think the mental part is so key. So important to keep that mental game strong esp for racing!!!
De-stressing is huge. Gives me time to talk to God and work out challenges I’m having. Heck I even wrote my best man speech during a solo run lol.
haha nice!
I love this…..gives me time to de-stress
Yes indeed!
I almost always fun solo. I find I can get in the zone more without anyone around. That, and I can jam out to my tunes!
Jamming sometimes is the best part!!!
I love to run with my husband, but there is nothing quite like a solo run to let out the tension.
I especially love a good solo run after an argument with the hubby – I can take out all of that frustration and upset on the pavement instead of lashing out at my spouse!
Aw!!! I feel ya sista!
What a wonderful way to clear your head and be out in nature. Soothing for the soul.
It’s amazing, the healing powers of nature!
You can choose your own path and make spontaneous turns! 🙂
I do that all the time! I blame my a.d.d. tendencies 😉
