Morning Runner Truths.

The promise of coffee post run almost always is the driving factor to get me out of bed in the a.m.

Starting your run AT a coffee shop and ending it there is absolutely the best thing ever. It’s like “Cheers” – everybody knows your name.

Running with friends so early makes things 100 percent more fun.

Dedicated morning runners to me are like unicorns. Badass unicorns at that.

-Not everyone can keep up the morning run routine. Because, life happens.

-But some days you just have to MAKE it happen. Hashtag priorities.

Going to bed in timely manner makes all the difference.

You see a lot of interesting things so early in the morning. In Texas, it’s usually coyotes, bunnies, and squirrels. And the occasional stray random person walking their dog. They don’t bother you if you don’t bother them.

I feel super productive if I can bang out a 10+ mile run on a work day before 8 a.m. It’s kind of amazing what they body can do.

It’s never SUPER easy to hop out of bed at 4 or 5 something in the morning. But it’s always worth it.

What are some of your morning runner truths?

  1. I agree with everything you have said! I am not a morning person but the prospect of being able to run with others AND having a nice cup of coffee afterwards sweetens the pot just enough to get me out of bed early!

  2. Funny, I always have the coffee *before* I run, and for some reason, afterwards coffee is repugnant to me. People tell me I’m not “supposed” to do this, but if thing has worked since — well — a very long time ago — I guess there’s no reason to be about fixing it. I do find it easier to get motivated when there’s a runnin’ mate. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Thanks for the idea! I’ve been having trouble getting out of bed for my runs this week but I think I’ll end at a coffee shop tomorrow and see if that helps:)

  4. I feel like I get so much more done on days that I run in the AM! I don’t just get up and park myself on the couch for an hour or 2 to “wake up” I get my run in then shower then start laundry or clean the kitchen etc.

  5. I promised myself this year that I will have me a nice hearty breakfast at a new location from where I race. For the evening runs will have to be a light dinner somewhere. Hopefully, I can make it – 1 done and 11 more to go
