Hiya there!! And happy very Happy Monday to you. I’m here to recap some of last week’s miles with you. I was able to get in just over 70 miles of runnin’ and gunnin’. Actually I’m not sure if gunnin’ fits in this dialogue but it sounded cute so let’s just go with it.
Let’s review and see how it all went down!!
Monday AM- 7.12 lunchtime miles, nice little de-stess time during the busy work day. The sun was out a lot last week but temps started getting pretty chilly towards the end of the week. The beginning of the week was quite nice though.
Monday PM- 3.22 miles before teaching a class at the gym. I like teaching on Mondays at the ‘FANCY GYM’ because it is a 24 Hour Fitness Super Sport location so they’ve got the beautiful clean sauna, hot tub and all of the latest and greatest in workout equipment. So I love to sit in the hot sauna after a workout especially on a chilly day.
Tuesday AM- 10.37 miles with my breakfast club crew. Very early miles at that. Always feels good to knock it out.
Tuesday PM- 3.33 twilight miles in the evening after the work day. And oh yeah, AND after happy hour. No shame.
Wednesday AM- 6.32 miles around the lake and I was totally not feeling it that day. But I did it anyway.
Wednesday PM- 4.22 miles at lunch to hit my numbers for the day. I was gunning for double digits on double run day.
Thursday- 6.31 miles in the pitch black dark, about 8 pm. I will be happy when we get more daylight in the evenings.
Friday- REST DAY
Saturday- 17.3 mile long run with the WRRC crew, 8:39 overall pace. I’m counting down the days till my next 50k!! I will be pacing the race this time instead of actually racing it but still need to get my training in. It will be a good time and I love being a pacer.
After the run I celebrated this beautiful girl’s birthday. She is my new BFF and sister/look alike.
Sunday- 12.17 miles along the beautiful canals in Valley Ranch. This was actually a good run and I got some good hill work in. Great time to gather my thoughts and the sun came out to play a bit even though it was a little chilly.
And I ended the day at my mama’s house. She made a turkey and cabbage soup in the crockpot along with cornbread which was super delicious on a 30 degree day.
There you have it!
How was your weekend? What did you do?
Sounds like a great week! I want some light for my morning runs!!!
Yes those too!!!
I’m so jealous of your high mileage and some of your runs! I used to go to a gym that was like what yours sounds like, with a sauna and hot tub. It wasn’t 24 hours but I didn’t care about that. I really miss that gym so much- it’s neat you teach there and can enjoy the amenities after your classes.
Aw thanks love!! Yeah I need to do the hot tub more but I love all the amenities!! One day in going to do a ‘spa day’ & go there just for some hot tub action. 😁
Your mom’s soup looks so delicious!
It was!! She’s doing keto right now & has been whipping up some good recipes!!
Let me have some of your miles.
You can, just come to TX & run then we can go dancing and do happy hour!! 🍸
That soup looks delicious! I need some advice on running in the Texas rain!! I’m worried it’s going to rain on me this Sunday in Austin. I can send you cold weather advice if ya ever need some in exchange 🙂
So what happens when it rains? You get wet…lol I kid, I kid – well not really, I mean one thing some people do is wear ponchos while they run if it’s going to be intense rain. I personally have never done that. I’m sure some of my readers have and have had success with that. Typically I’ll bring a windbreaker type of jacket with me, as well as dri fit type of clothing, then when you get hot or if the humidity is too much you can tie the jacket or top around your waist. That’s what I’ve done in the past. Best of luck, don’t overthink anything here. You’ll be fine. Have a great race!! Will pray for no lightning for you 🙂
ha yeah you get wet, I guess I’m just so used to running in frozen weather I’m afraid I’ll get hot if I wear a jacket! fingers crossed it will all hold off until after I finish! 🙂
YOU WILL BE FINE!! Trust 🙂 When I say ‘jacket’ I’m not talking about those puffy coats you northerners wear. Like, a light windbreaker you can take off. Example http://www.brooksrunning.com/en_us/womens-lsd-jacket/220987.html You’re welcome 🙂
Wow, 70 miles. I break down at 45 or 50…how do you stay loose?
Ohhh lots of ways…actually as an ultra runner I get the same questions over and over so I will refer you to this article. Read here for more ideas. https://thedancingrunner.com/2017/08/22/ultrarunner-faqs-and-a-roasted-chickpeas-recipe/
Another awesome week!!!
Thank you!! Looks like you had another awesome race!!!
