Do you believe in running mantras? I certainly think it helps to have a few things you say to yourself to get you OUT THE DOOR when the temps are dropping. Because letβs be honest. It would be much easier to roll back into bed when it’s freezing out. So, here I am, the cheerful motivational cold weather run lover to save the day and make you get your hiney up and get to running.
Here are some of my favorite cold weather running mantras.
-No such thing as bad weather, just soft people.
-The faster you run, the sooner you’re done.
-Find your STRONG.
-It’s *snot* that cold!
-It’s only cold if you’re standing still.
-The temps may drop, but the running won’t stop.
-I put in my time, no matter the circumstances.
-Cold weather running…it hurts so good.
-If you wait for perfect running conditions, you’ll never get anything done.
-OUTRUN the weather.
-Fitness isn’t a seasonal hobby. Fitness is a lifestyle.
-Today’s forecast…’holy crap I can’t feel my face’ DEGREES!
-The cold clears your head. RUN.
What are some of your cold weather running mantras?
Your cold weather definition may be a little different than mine. π I like the “It’s snot that cold” But, what do you do when snot freezes on your face?
HA well in New York yes, it’s definitely a lot different than the ‘cold’ we deal with in Texas. I’ve lived on the east coast before. So when Texans wear all of these clothes and it is 30-40 degrees out I just laugh. I lovveeee me some colder weather running. Yuck, snot. lol
When I’m training and it’s really cold I think, “You would do it on race day.”
I like!
You coulda just clicked on the star. π
Kidding! I like you saying it better.
Just took care of that for you, you’re welcome. π
Too kind π
I try…it’s this thing called multi-tasking when you’re supposed to be doing the actual work that pays your bills and also keep up with your blog readers comments at the same time π
I’ve heard of this “multi-tasking” you speak of. Guys are generally not so good at it.
Love these! One of my favorites on cold weather days is “Just get out the door”. Once I get out and get moving I’m fine. It’s taking that first step outside that’s the hardest!
Seriously so very true!!!
These are funny. Pairs well with my winter running tips post. I guess we all have cold on our minds this week. Getting started is definitely the hardest part.
Yes indeedy!
I haven’t found one that works as I have yet to get out the door in the morning yet. Oops.
lol! Fallon your comments always make me giggle. π
These are great haha! I try to remind myself that weather isnβt an excuse because itβs always 68 degrees and dry on the treadmill.
Not a treadmill girl but I feel you! I do like it for speedwork sometimes though. I would rather run in freezing rain most days than run on a moving belt. lol
I read this somewhere years ago but I ALWAYS say it to myself on those freezing mornings:
Summer bodies are made in the winter!
Look at you going back in the blog archives on throwback THURSDAY yaaasss lol π
Ahahaha I actually revisited because for real I needed these cold mantras this morning. Ireland is FREEEEZING!!!! π π
I put as many layers on as possible. Then, after 5 mins running, I instantly regret it as I pour with sweat.
yes! True story!!
