Pro- I have this INNER COACH that guilt trips me every time I slack off with running in the mornings. Also, I don’t know about you but guilt trips can definitely be motivating at times. Also I think I get this trait from my mother’s side of the family. She grew up Catholic. Catholics IMO are really good at stuff like that. HA. I digress.
Con- This can also backfire in some ways. Especially when it comes to times when you kinda NEED to slack off. Like, say rest days or just off seasons in general.
Pro- I am really good at going to bed early. In fact I am like a professional. My body just kinda turns off after 9 PM. I am the opposite of a night owl and get up early in a very blissful manner.
Con- When I go out on the weekends…I get tired before everyone else. YES. I have fallen asleep on my friends before! I am not proud of this moment. Yeah, so don’t try to take me to a movie. It is a wrap after like 45 minutes.
Pro- I am a highly self motivated individual who doesn’t really need to run with people. I enjoy it, yes, especially during long runs. But some days I CRAVE running alone. That could be the only child in me. I need solo runs sometimes just to think.
Con- Sometimes my highly motivated personality can get the best of me and I tend to over commit on things. I’ve gotten better at this as I’ve gotten older, and my favorite word to say lately is NO! Haha. So when I feel like I’m teaching too many classes at the gym or taking on too much I make myself scale back. I also don’t race as much as I used to, and pick races that I REALLY want to do. Like 50 milers and 100 milers. Yes, I’m an ultrarunner and that is my jam. What can I say.
Where my morning run lovers at? Evening runners…what do you love about running at night?
I like to change it up every once in a while so I do somedays appreciate a good night run.
I love starting my day with a run as it seems to just bring success all day. I think it’s too long since I last ate to run in the morning.
However you can get it done!! Enjoy your week.
Totally with you on the morning person stuff! I cannot function after 9. I felt bad about this but I actually bailed on a friend’s birthday party a few weeks ago because it started at 9pm. On a Saturday. I just couldn’t physically do it. LOVE getting up early when the world is still quiet. I also have the inner guilt trip coach BIG TIME!
Oh gosh!! Girl I feel you. Some days I just chug a caffeine beverage and have to rough it out for the sake of weekend social time. Saturday post long run power naps have been helping! Glad to know other early morning run lovers out there 🙂
I love me an early morning run! As a mother runner, I can get my runs done before the family gets up. Not fueling before I head out has been messing with me as I started Ragnar races and my body has been rejecting anything I eat before I run, this year I am trying to work on that!
Oh man! Yeah hope you get it worked out!!
