Well it is a beautiful time of year to run…the temps are warmer, and spring fever good vibes are just all around! But sometimes this time of year (due to it being an off season, maybe you aren’t really training for a big race, etc) motivation to lace up and hit the streets just isn’t there. No matter how many Runner’s World articles you read you just can’t muster up the energy and would just rather be kickin’ it at the pool! I get it, I’ve been there. Well here are a few ways you can stay inspired in the springtime to get in those miles- rain or shine.
-Go for a wildflower run! Literally…go searching for some pretty spring blooms. They are just about everywhere this time of year in Texas. Honestly that is a pretty memorable part of my run, even from my run this morning. And I love this time of year because our state flower, the Texas bluebonnets are everywhere. Makes my run that much more colorful.
-Sign up for a festive spring 5k. Especially if you are not really in a training season and not doing long runs or anything. It is a smart way in the off season to keep your fitness up and give you a boost of confidence to get speedy.
-Plan your own SOCIAL run! Invite some of your running buds to run YOUR ‘hood…then have brunch at your house afterwards…maybe on Sunday Funday. Entertain your friends and get in your workout at the same time! It is a win win.
-Stock up on your spring running wardrobe! I know this time of year there are some sweet flashy colors to wear on the run. I don’t know about you but getting me a hot new pair of colorful shorts or tank is super motivating to put in some serious miles. When you look good…you run good.
Any other ways you stay motivated to get those springtime miles in?

Ha ha, buying new shorts and a new running top are always the highlight of my spring training. So jealous of your bluebonnet fields!
