So…lately I’ve actually been moving around the time of day that I run, just to spice things up. I am really a morning runner at heart- but there are days that I really get huge benefits from running at lunch! So here are a few reasons why ‘RUNCH’ is absolutely the way to go.
–Your legs are already warmed up from the day. For me this translates usually to running faster. I’m sure people have different opinions about this but it takes me some time to get my legs moving in the morning. In the afternoon I am just more revved up and ready to go.
–By lunchtime I am just READY to get out of the office and get some fresh air. So I get my nature time and it recharges my brain to go back to work refreshed and productive.
–It helps keep things spicy running wise. In general I am just a fan of switching up the time of day that you run. For me it helps me to not get bored with the same ole same.
–Because miles usually taste better than that burger at the drive thru. And it helps me make better lunch choices in general. Usually I will just eat at my desk after I run and wash up at the gym next door which ends up working out great.
–It also makes me want to punch people less. You know, in general. I come back to work a pretty happy camper.
What is your favorite time of day to run?
Zero dark thirty usually…but RUNCH is a close second.
I will sometimes with my baby girl in tow! I feel like a much calmer momma when we go. 🙂 but dark o thirty solo time is my all time favorite.
Yup!! Calmer mama is the way to go!
As someone with ADHD, I really need that run (or swim on cross training days) to start my workday right – the focus and discipline carriers through the rest of the day. That said, while I am self-employed with a somewhat flexible schedule, a lunchtime run is the best way to keep my running going through the cold (dark!) winter months. But regardless, it has to be consistent for me. I simply can’t switch it up from one day to the next. If I don’t maintain some consistency (at least seasonally), I’m a hot ADHD mess.
I know most runners are like you, so I totes get it. As an ultrarunner I have to switch it up to get my body acclimated to running on tired legs and at different times etc so my training is a little different. But yeah! Morning runs in general FTW!
Midday when no one is on the trails. CRP, OCNP and CHSP are all fairly congested in the morning and afternoon but ahh midday.
LOL must be nice to do that midday. I work in mid cities but if I was closer I would totally be game for that!
I love that you said it makes you want to punch people less 😆 I’ve never done a “Runch” but maybe I should try if that’s one of the side effects, lol!🙌🏻
Oh girrrrrl you would so love it! I am very lucky/thankful to work right next to the gym to pop in the shower right quick after!
I was wondering how easy or difficult it was for you to get freshened up after.. But you totally have the perfect set up! #thriving!
heehee yessss it is quite lovely.
“It makes be want to punch people less.” I hear you! I feel way more in control and accomplished when I workout earlier in the day. Now that it’s finally warming up again, I might be able to move my workouts to the mornings!
Awesomeness!!
Only reason not to…sometimes the shower doesn’t take.
Who asked you though? Certainly not me. 😉 Thanks for your input!
Ha! Woahhhh now. Maybe you need to have some runch.
Cute 🙂 🙂 I am in taper mode now for my 50 mile race and ran this morning since you’re paying so much attention!! Happy to entertain and motivate you though, anytime 🙂
Love this! I either run in the morning or at lunch outside, since my office is in a rural area with nice roads and pretty views. Question: Do you put on sunscreen before your run during lunch?
Sometimes I forget ha! Thanks for the reminder!!!
