–It was rainy and chilly for the morning run but can I just say how it seems like the leaves changed down in TEXAS seemingly overnight? I swear all of October all of the trees were green and then November 1st hit and now all of this red and orange. I mean, I’m not complaining though. I feel like I’m suddenly in a fall wonderland.
–It is also the time of year that I start to crave one of my favorite foods- PHO. With extra basil please. Rice noodles and lots of leaves and I am in Vietnamese soup HEAVEN.
–Have you gotten your FLU SHOT yet? I did not get mine last year- after being pretty consistent with it for several years and honestly I felt the difference. I think I’m going to bite the bullet and get it this year. Especially because I’m thinking of doing some traveling before the year is over.
–OMG I am one.freaking.month AWAY from my 3rd 100 miler!! Feels surreal.
–I am so glad I got the 100k race out of the way. That was like 1 week and some change ago! It is amazing how fast the body recovers when you get used to the higher mileage.
–Wine alert- My favorite vino right now is Apothic Inferno. Beware though it is aged in whiskey barrels so super strong but delicious. But perfect to enjoy right by the fire.

Red wine lovers what’s your fave right now? Need to add to the collection.
didn’t not know leaves change color too in Texas. I thought only we have color change in the north
haha oh Antin! You need to venture out more my friend!! Yes the leaves change color here 🙂 😉
Ohhhhhh the flu shot… I’m so on the fence about getting it. I used to get it when I had infants, but I think it’s a roll of the dice now as far as how much it helps. Sometimes you still get the flu. If I get the shot, I’m guaranteed a sore arm and a day of feeling like crap.
See that’s funny I’ve had the flu when I haven’t gotten it! Strange, huh? Everyone has their take on this. Also I kind of like the sore arm feeling. (I’m sadistic and like pain like that – another reason why I run ultras.) 😉 LOL
I’ve had the flu either way. It’s really a 50/50 shot. I guess I could consider the pain to be ultra training haha. I just signed up for the Blue Ridge Marathon, which is some ultra level suffering in itself.
Oh that’s great!! Fun! Happy training to ya!
Pho is heaven! Are you running Brazos Bend?!?
Loup Garou 100 this year I need a change of scenery 😉 Good luck if you are running it!
Shhhh, even though I used to be a scientist, I’ve never received a flu shot. Knowing my luck, I probably would be injected with the common vaccine and catch another strain of the flu
I do like a nice Tempranillo.
If you ever visit NYC, I can recommend a hole in the wall place that has amazing pho. It must be authentic because it’s always full of Vietnamese folks. You can get a big bowl of pho, a large appetizer, and a couple of (ok) glasses of wine for under $25 bucks, which is not bad for an NYC dinner.
I’ve never gotten the flu with the flu shot! But maybe I should listen to you since you ‘USED TO’ be a scientist??? I need professional advice! 😉
